Champions League Preview – Tuesday 22nd November

November 22, 2011

As we enter game week 5 of the Champions League teams are scrapping for points as they look to progress out of the group stages and into the knock-out stages. Both Manchester United and Manchester City can secure their place in the next stages of competition with wins tonight. Let’s take a preview of the game week fives, fixtures.

Group A – Napoli v Manchester City

The San Paolo stadium in Naples is set to play out what looks to be a straight win or bust game for either team. Whichever team prevails is likely to be commanding favourites to qualify, but only a win for City will mathematically guarantee promotion into the next stages. City’s aim should be more than just qualification this season as the team they posses could easily put a good run together and will a team no one will want to play in the knockout stages.

Whilst Napoli have a strong European record, they come into the game on relatively poor domestic and European form picking up just a point in there last 3 games. Napoli will be a force to be reckoned with come kick off in what will be an extremal tough game for City. However, we feel they scrape a 2-1 victory to send them into the knockout stages of the Champions league. To bet on this match simply visit

Group c – Man United v Benfica

Group C seems likely to go down the final match day where three teams are still well in with a shout of qualification. Man United lie joint top with Benfica in preparation of what looks to be a mouth watering clash at Old Trafford. A win for either team will not cement a place in the next round, depending on results, but both teams will be looking to gain the upper hand and put themselves in as good a position as possible for the final match day.

Both teams come into the game in excellent form. United have won 5 for 5 without conceding a goal after their 6-1 drubbing from their local rivals Man City. Benefica have won 5 of their last 6 both domestically and in Europe ensuring that they will be push overs at Old Trafford. The game is set for an electric atmosphere in what’s sure to be a packed house in Manchester.

Another tight game looks in prospect, but united will surely be too strong at home and in the kind of form defensively they find themselves.

Group D – Real Madrid v Dinamo Zagreb

Real Madrid have already qualified from Group D and look set to make a few changes this week for the visit of Dinamo Zagreb. Two couldn’t have more contrasting form guides running into this game, with Madrid winning (and winning well) their last 6 games in all competitions and Dinamo Zagreb losing their last 5 games.

Even a weakened Real Madrid team would still be firm favourites to turn over Zagred at the Bernabeu on what will likely be a relatively easy night for Madrid. Madrid still will want to seal top spot in the group and they can do with a win tonight. We are going with a comfortable Real Madrid victory tonight, by 3 or more goals.
